Lake House Before and After

It’s been a busy summer around here, in part because I have been designing an entire home! I’ve had the pleasure of working with some friends who recently purchased a home on a lake outside of Kansas City. It’s a second home so we wanted the house to feel relaxing, providing a space to enjoy friends and family away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

It’s been a whirlwind as we did the entire home in just a couple months. But we pulled it together and here are some highlights:

I lightened up the space by opening up the windows and using beachy tones. Over-stuffed slipcovered furniture is inviting and relaxing after a day on the lake.

The best way to detract from a large TV? A beautiful piece of furniture for it to sit on.

Changing out the light fixture was an easy way to create a focal point in the room and brighten the space. The table the client already had and I added a bold rug underneath to tie in the wall color which had also been previously selected.

Master Bedroom:

The master bedroom feels high-end although we kept things within a very reasonable budget. A good way to save money in the bedroom is using a headboard instead of whole bed.

The basement felt really dark so I livened it up with interesting decor with a nautical theme.
